Hello everyone!

My name is Jake. I'm the main host/voice of Paperbacker Podcast.

What did you always do on the plane? Movies? Games? Me, too. But I also spend a significant of that plane trip with a book. When else do you have hours of uninterrupted free time to just read?

I always enjoy browsing the terminal's bookstore, despite the pricing, I usually walk out of there with at least one book. That book becomes associated with that trip and so also becomes a slightly more special to me.

I'm a big kindle user, too. But sometimes you need the solid hefty feel of paperback or hardcover in your hands.

I've been to a good number of countries and met many different people within these countries which is what inspired a lot of the podcast. Every time I made a note in a book, whether in a hostel, bus, train, or airplane, I'd also wonder what would others say about this. How might their reactions be different than mine? What would they add to this, not just the whole book but also the little parts within the story's journey?

This podcast attempts to bring you that journey especially for those unable to do their own traveling.

So if you love books and culture and travel, this podcast is for you. I hope you enjoy!

How it works

It's a bit of a story within a story. My fictional companion is Paige.

Paige helps keep me company on my trips. (As many of our books do!) Often she wanders off when we get in the book store which could be dangerous for a book like her. But usually, this lets me meet others and then I can tell her about it. She logs it in her white pages and we head off to the next country. It's a lot of fun!
